WD-40 Specialist® Time To Clean Your Throttle Body
<< BackWhat is a Throttle Body?
The throttle body controls how much air enters your engine. Over time, it can collect dirt, carbon, and grime that restrict airflow, leading to poor performance.
Common Signs it’s Dirty
- Hard starting
- Rough or inconsistent idle
- Poor acceleration
- Stalling or hesitation
- Higher fuel use
- Extra exhaust smoke
If you notice any of these, it’s time to clean.
How Often to Clean
- Cars/trucks: Every 30K–50K miles
- Small engines: Once per year or after long storage
- Dusty or seasonal use: Check more often
