King of the Hill X WD-40® Brand: A Collab 27 Years in the Making

<< Back

The connection between King of the Hill and WD-40® Brand has been there from the start. In the series premiere, Hank Hill asks a Mega Lo Mart associate where he can find “a tap and die and some WD-40.” Then, in a now-legendary 1998 episode, Hank struggles to open a can of WD-40® Multi-Use Product before reaching for a second backup handy can from the holster on his belt, a moment fans have referenced, celebrated and meme-ified for years.

That connection resurfaced when WD-40 Brand asked fans on social media what they wanted to see on a limited-edition can of the Classic WD-40 Product. One answer rose above the rest: King of the Hill. From the series premiere to the famous backup can moment and even a cameo in the show’s recent revival, the product has been part of Hank’s world all along.

Now the Limited-Edition King of the Hill x WD-40 Brand Collector’s Can created in collaboration with Disney Entertainment, is officially here, bringing together two American icons with a shared appreciation for getting the Job Done Right®. Available exclusively at The Home Depot, in-store and online, while supplies last.

Taking Over San Diego Comic-Con

As Comic-Con transformed downtown San Diego, we brought the King of the Hill x WD-40® Brand collaboration to the Gaslamp. Our team walked through the crowds and surprised fans at the Animayhem backyard activation outside of Comic-Con, bringing along a group of Hank Hills alongside our WD-40 Can mascot to lean into the magic of what makes Comic-Con, Comic-Con.

Fans stopped for photos, struck up conversations about Hank Hill's famous "backup can," and helped make it one of the internet's favorite crossover moments.

The Celebration Continues

Whether you discovered the can because you are a huge fan of King of the Hill, spotted it on shelf and thought it was too cool to pass up or maybe even saw it IRL at one of our events, we’re glad you got your hands on a can.
