A Board of Directors for the WD-40 Fan Club?! Believe it.
Today, WD-40 launched its search for seven lucky WD-40 Fan Club members to sit on its Fan Club Board of Directors. Those fanatical enough to be selected will serve as a voice for Fan Club members across the globe.
Last year, the WD-40 Fan Club was created as an outlet for die-hard WD-40 users. Now 41,000 members strong and still growing, the burgeoning Club is seeking leadership among its fan base.
Board members will serve as an informal advisory board—lending their opinions on upcoming promotions, serving as product testers and getting a sneak peek at future endeavors. The group will "meet" quarterly via email. Once voted in, the new members will join well-known celebrities on the 11-person Board, including: Daytona 500-winning NASCAR driver Ward Burton; Linda Cobb, the self-appointed Queen of Clean®; and Jim and Tim, the Duct Tape Guys.
"Since our fan base is getting so big, we wanted to give a few of our most fanatical members the chance to help shape the future of the WD-40 Fan Club," said Helen Way, brand manager for WD-40. "We’ve had so much input on our Club that it was time to elect a group that can serve as a sounding board for future ventures."
To nominate someone for a seat on the WD-40 Fan Club Board of Directors, visit http://fanclub.wd40.com (free to join) to download a nomination form. All nominations must be postmarked by April 6 and received by April 13.
The nominees selected as candidates will be posted on the Fan Club web site and will be charged with driving friends, family and "constituents" to the web site to cast a vote in their favor.
The WD-40 Fan Club, which is free to join at www.wd40.com, serves as a virtual "home base" for WD-40 fans. The site allows members to share stories about the product, access tips and ideas on how to use it, download WD-40 goodies, get the master list of uses and participate in periodic promotions, contests and special events.
