NEW CD-ROM FROM UNLIKELY SOURCE EDUCATES, ENTERTAINS

SAN DIEGO - It cleans, lubricates, penetrates and ... spins in your CD drive?

Building on the success of its Search for 2000 Uses campaign, WD-40 Company, makers of the well-known multi-purpose spray lubricant WD-40®, has completed work on a most unique project - the WD-40 CD-ROM.

Designed to educate consumers on thousands of different uses for the product, the disc interactively displays how and where to use WD-40 in the home, garage, workshop, office and in recreation.

Helen Way, associate brand manager for WD-40 said, "This CD is meant to answer the number one question we receive from our users - ‘how can I get the list?' We designed something that would creatively present the official list of uses in an educational and entertaining way."

After an imaginative introduction, users are greeted by a voiceover that instructs the user how to navigate the CD using "roll-over" features. Users are invited to explore some of the newest technology available to best showcase WD-40's endless stream of applications in five different categories: Car/Truck, Home/Garden, Garage/Workshop, Sports/Recreation, and On-The-Job.

The CD-ROM includes the WD-40 Spray Game - an interactive race against time that pits users against various tools and equipment that need WD-40's attention. The CD also contains a list of the product's official "2000 Uses," broken out by category.

"The disc is fun, informational and designed to be user-friendly," said Way. "We've done everything we can to create a product that is fun yet educational."

The WD-40 CD-ROM is available by enlisting as a SuperFan of the WD-40 Fan Club through www.wd40.com, or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope (with 34 cents postage) and a check or money order for $2 to WD-40 Company, P.O. Box 80607, San Diego, CA 92138.
