SAN DIEGO – Everyone whose jobs include building, repairing, wiring, painting or heating uses trade secrets and helpful hints to help them finish jobs faster and better. Now, sharing those tips could fetch them more than just a pat on the back for a job well done.
WD-40 Company is asking professionals to share their tricks of the trade for possible inclusion on the WD-40 Job Site, an online resource for homeowners and do-it-yourselfers. Professionals whose suggestions are selected for the Job Site will receive a WD-40 tool belt, not to mention recognition for their know-how.
"Trade professionals have long used WD-40 on the job, and we know they’re the real experts when it comes to maintenance and repair," said Rob Fleisher, director of marketing for WD-40 Company. "The Job Site will share that knowledge with homeowners in a handy online resource."
Whether it’s a hint on driving nails more accurately, replacing a shake shingle roof, repairing an air conditioner or removing unwanted paint, WD-40 Company wants to share these pearls of wisdom. These tips are not found in any trade manual or instruction book; they are hints and shortcuts that make a job easier, faster and better.
The WD-40 Job Site, which launches in May 2003, will feature at least 100 tips from professionals in several industries, along with a variety of suggestions from the Carey Brothers, home improvement gurus and hosts of the syndicated radio program "On the House."
Professionals can submit their shortcuts and tricks of the trade on the WD-40 Web site, located at www.wd40jobsite.com. They can also send their idea, in 200 words or less, along with their name, occupation, mailing address, phone number and email address, to WD-40 Job Site, P.O. Box 881515, San Diego, CA 92168-1515. The deadline to submit entries is March 31, 2003.
