WD-40®/SEMA Cares Mustang Build

With a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces about 600 horsepower and a paint job that truly represents the WD-40® brand, the WD-40/SEMA Cares Mustang has both power and style. Leading automotive aftermarket manufacturers and other companies from around the world pitched in to give this custom 2011 Ford Mustang GT exceptional performance and a distinctive WD-40 look!

After its unveiling at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November, the vehicle appeared at select West Coast auto-related events and was auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction Jan. 22 in Scottsdale, Ariz. The vehicle sold for $100,000 with several additional donations, and all proceeds are going to Childhelp®, an organization that provides services to abused and neglected children, and The Victory Junction Gang® Camp, which provides life-changing camping experiences for disabled and chronically ill children.


The Build
 

A lot of work goes into building a custom vehicle, and the WD-40®/SEMA Cares Mustang is no exception. We wanted to build a one-of-a-kind vehicle with a dynamic look and exceptional performance to be auctioned off to help children in need.

Childhelp® is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect through advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach. For more than 50 years, Childhelp has helped bring hope and healing to millions of children across the country.

The Victory Junction Gang® Camp

Started by the famous Petty racing family, The Victory Junction Gang® Camp is a camp for terminally and chronically ill children. A member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the camp has grown into a free year-round camp for children and their families, and will continue to spread life-changing experiences to special children around the world.

The Game
 

A virtual version of the WD-40®/SEMA Cares Mustang appeared in Nitto 1320 Legends, an online racing game and social network created by Cie Studios that has more than 1 million members. In-game sales raised an additional $10,800 for SEMA Cares!
